At the Harare Sports Club on Sunday, India defeated Zimbabwe in the fifth and final Twenty20 International by a competitive score of 167/6 thanks to a rapid cameo of 26 runs in 12 deliveries from vice skipper Sanju Samson and fast-bowling Shivam Dube.
With four maximums and a boundary in his 45-ball 58, Samson was playing at his lazy best. In order to save India from disaster after losing their top three in the power play, he also forged a 65-run partnership off 56 balls for the fourth wicket with Riyan Parag.
In the fifth and final Twenty20 International against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday, vice skipper Sanju Samson scorched his second T20I fifty, while Shivam Dube produced a late cameo of 26 runs in 12 deliveries to lead India to a competitive 167/6.
In his 45-ball 58, Samson struck four maximums and a boundary, displaying his laziest form. In addition, he and Riyan Parag established a 65-run partnership off 56 balls for the fourth wicket, which helped India escape difficulty after they lost their top three in the power play.
Brian Bennett dropped Abhishek Sharma off Muzarabani at cover-point, and the bowler made up for it by getting the left-handed hitter to nick behind an angled across delivery to keeper Clive Madande.
When Shubman Gill attempted to top-edge a pull to mid-on, Richard Ngarava dismissed him because he didn’t appear to be playing with much fluency at the crease. Samson was a big contributor to India’s innings reconstruction, hitting three incredible sixes with his exquisite batswing, including a devastating 110-meter blast.
The breakthrough came from Brandon Mavuta for Zimbabwe when Parag misplayed his loft to long-off. However, Samson stormed forward, hitting boundaries to reach fifty, and then he fell for a 45-ball fifty-eighth wicket off Muzarabani by drawing straight to deep mid-wicket.
Before being run out in the last over due to a misunderstanding with Rinku, Dube blasted four thunderous boundaries in his 12-ball 26. In the last over, Rinku hit 14 runs, including a six off the ground off of Faraz Akram.
Summary: India defeated Zimbabwe 167/6 (Sanju Samson 58, Shivam Dube 26; Blessing Muzarabani 2-19, Richard Ngarava 1-29)
