Mumbai vs RCB stats – Bumrah’s record five-for and MI’s Wankhede half century

Nine is the number of times Mumbai Indians have chased 190 or more runs without failing. Together with Punjab Kings, these are the teams’ joint-highest 190+ target chases in all T20 competitions.

Along with Punjab Kings, it was also the eleventh time that a goal of more than 190 runs had been pursued against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which is a record against any team in Twenty20 cricket.

12.83 Mumbai has the joint-second-highest run rate of any side in the IPL after successfully chasing more than 190 targets. Mumbai’s 13.29, achieved in 2014 at Wankhede during a 190-run chase against Rajasthan Royals, is the highest. When they chased down 199 in 15.3 overs against Kings XI Punjab in 2017, they too had a run-rate of 12.83.

Mumbai wins 50 games in the Wankhede Stadium. They are the first squad to win 50 games in an IPL season at a particular venue (not including extra over victory).

  1. In the IPL match against RCB, Jasprit Bumrah became the first bowler to take five wickets. The previous best was 4 for 10 by Ashish Nehra in the 2015 edition.

Two IPL five-wicket hauls by Bumrah. Having achieved several IPL five-fors, he joins James Faulkner, Jaydev Unadkat, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the only other bowler to do so.

21 In the IPL match on Thursday, Bumrah claimed three or more wickets for the twenty-first time. It is the bowler’s highest total.

The ratio of Bumrah’s economy rate to that of the other bowlers at the Wankhede on Thursday is 2.25. Apart from Bumrah, the other 12 bowlers took six wickets at 62, but they also gave up 372 runs in 31.3 overs at an economy of 11.8. Bumrah was hit for just two boundaries in 24 deliveries, with an economy of just 5.25, and was removed at a rate of one wicket every 4.2 runs.

Mumbai scored four fifty runs during the IPL powerplay overs. Ishan Kishan will play two of those matches in 2021—against Sunrisers Hyderabad and against the RCB on Thursday. The other Mumbai hitters with an IPL fifty during the powerplay are Sanath Jayasuriya (2008) and Lendl Simmons (2014).

Suryakumar Yadav took a total of 17 balls to reach fifty, which is tied for second fastest for Mumbai in the IPL. Kishan’s 2021 16-ball fifty versus Sunrisers is the fastest.

It is also Surya’s fastest fifty in all T20s; his previous best was an eighteen-ball score in a 2022 match against South Africa in Guwahati.

101 In the IPL, Rohit Sharma’s partnership with Ishan marks the first time that Rohit has ever opened with a century. Prior to Thursday, Rohit had opened the batting in 92 innings, but his greatest opening partnership came against the Rajasthan Royals in 2019 when he was joined by Quinton de Kock for 96 runs.
