Reserve days are planned for the semifinals and final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, the International Cricket Council (ICC) stated on Friday. The USA and the West Indies will jointly host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in June 1–29.
At the ICC’s yearly Board meetings in Dubai, a decision to this effect was made. In response to harsh criticism regarding the absence of reserve days in previous editions, the ICC has added them for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
The Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 playing standards were accepted by the ICC during the meeting, and the qualification procedure for the 2026 tournament—which India and Sri Lanka will co-host—was also revealed.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 trophy tour has begun in New York. The trophy tour was inaugurated at the Empire State Building by USA bowler Ali Khan and two-time T20 World Cup champion Chris Gayle.
The USA and the West Indies will host the ninth Men’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start on June 1st, 2024.
On the day specified by ICC, the renowned Empire State Building in New York hosted the official Trophy Tour launch. Chris Gayle pulled a lever to light up the landmark skyscraper, which was decorated in the official tournament colours of navy and pink.
This will be the first time that an ICC is held in the US at all. Three locations will host the matches: the recently refurbished Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas, the brand-new 34,000-seat Nassau County International Stadium in New York, and the Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill.
Historic locations in the West Indies, including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago, will host the matches.
The trophy tour will begin in 15 nations on four continents, passing by professional sports teams and stadiums, well-known sites, and iconic cricket players to encourage fans to take part in the “Out of this World” cricket festival and get a glimpse of the most sought-after prize in the T20 World Cup.
In an effort to attract new followers to cricket, the Trophy will also go to developing cricket nations in America, such as Argentina, Brazil, and Canada.
