Terror threat to T20 World Cup – ICC assures of ‘comprehensive and robust security plan’

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is slated to start on June 1. The USA and Cricket West Indies (CWI) will share co-hosting duties for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. prior to the global cup. According to reports, a group with ties to North Pakistan has sent a terror threat to the CWI.

The security alert warned that certain pro-Islamic State (IS) media outlets have started campaigns encouraging violence against sporting events, according to a report in Cricbuzz. ISKhorasan (IS-K), the branch that operates in Afghanistan and Pakistan, has even published statements documenting attacks in several nations and urging followers to join the fight there.

Jonny Graves, CEO of CWI, has reassured us, though, that they are investigating the matter and collaborating with local and national authorities to make sure suitable measures are taken to reduce any dangers to our event.

According to CWI CEO Jonny Graves, the board is ensuring that the stakeholders have appropriate plans in place by collaborating closely with them. He continued by saying that the organization’s primary goal is ensuring everyone’s safety and security throughout the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, and they have created a thorough and effective security strategy to that end.

In the meanwhile, up to six locations will host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which begins on June 1. The locations are even in the West Indies, which also include Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

World Cup matches will also be held in three US locations: New York, Florida, and Dallas. Nonetheless, there hasn’t been any danger to the US matchups.

The competition, which takes place from June 1 to June 29, involves 20 countries. The competition will feature up to 55 Twenty20 Internationals, with England serving as the defending champions.
