Afghanistan won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match against New Zealand with a score of 84 runs today at Providence Stadium.
After being briefed about the match, New Zealand chose to bowl first having won the toss. Afghanistan, batting first, lost six wickets in 20 overs but still managed to score 159 runs. Of them, Ibrahim Zadran scored 44 runs, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 22, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 80 runs. Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Lockie Ferguson each claimed two wickets for the New Zealand team.
Afghanistan won by 84 runs after New Zealand lost all of their wickets in 15.2 overs while chasing the mark. Glenn Phillips scored eighteen, Matt Henry scored twelve, and Kane Williamson scored nine. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid Khan each claimed four wickets for Afghanistan, while Mohammad Nabi claimed two.
In the meantime, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets in another match played today. After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bowl first. Sri Lanka scored 125 runs while batting first but lost nine wickets. Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets after chasing the mark with 125 runs and eight wickets lost.
