Cricketer R. Ashwin Joins Chess World, V. Anand Welcomes Him In Rajnikanth’s Style

Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian international cricket player, is the bowler. He became well-known for his unusual carom ball, which he found on Chennai’s streets. In a video issued by the BCCI, R. Ashwin was seen receiving congratulations for his first-ever Test match milestone from five-time World Chess Champion Vishwanthan Anand. The chess god of India, Anand, welcomed Spinner Ashwin to the chess world and referred to him as a chess player among cricketers. Ashwin is currently a co-owner of American Gambits, a new Global Chess League (CGL) franchise, according to the information.

Notably, the franchise will be a member of one of the six clubs participating in the Global Chess League’s second season. The league is slated to take place in London from October 3 to October 12 and is expected to include some of the best Grandmasters. According to claims, CGL is the first and biggest franchise-based team chess tournament in the world.

The renowned cricket player will co-own a team in this League, which is a partnership between Tech Mahindra and the world chess organisation, FIDE. It is noteworthy to highlight that Ashwin’s diverse knowledge and special ability to fool the batsman with his roaring make him a valuable member of the team.
