Bangladesh choose to bat against Malaysia.

In an attempt to advance to the Asia Cup 2024 semifinals, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana won the toss and chose to bat against Malaysia.

Bangladesh defeated Thailand by seven wickets to win and go to the next round after losing to Sri Lanka in their first match. If they win, they’ll move up to second place in the standings, but they won’t qualify until after Thailand’s match against Sri Lanka.

At the toss, Sultana declared, “We want to put a total on the board and the wicket looks so good.” Bangladesh replaced Marufa Akter with the more seasoned Jahanara Alam, and “rested” Akter.

Malaysia also desired to bat first, but they now have to pursue. They made two changes: Nur Aishah and Irdina Beh Nabil were added, and Dhanusri Muhunan and Amalin Sorfina were removed.

Despite losing their first two matches, Malaysia still has a remote chance of qualifying for the semifinals. They must defeat Bangladesh handily and hope that Sri Lanka defeats Thailand in the similar manner.
