Women’s Asia Cup: Bangladesh wins toss, opt to bat first against India in first semi-final

In the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup, Bangladesh wins the toss and chooses to bat first against India at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on Friday. The victor of this match will compete in the Sunday title match at the same location.

In the women’s Twenty20 International matches, India leads Bangladesh 19-3. In a bilateral series played in Sylhet in May of this year, India defeated Bangladesh 5-0. Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, declared that Marufa Akter replaces Sabikun Jesmin after winning the toss.

“The wicket looks good. The ball was coming onto the bat nicely. They have been playing well. 2018 was a long time ago. They (India) have been playing well. If we perform collectively, we’ll put up a good show. We need to work on our batting and building partnerships,” said Nigar.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of India, stated, “We have played good cricket so far.” We also wish to support ourselves today. They have merits. We must concentrate on the work that we have been performing. Dayalan Hemalatha has been replaced at number three by Uma Chetry for India, while Harmanpreet and Pooja Vastrakar return after missing the previous match against Nepal due to rests.
