For the first time, all-arounder Samit Dravid, the son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, has been included in the Under-19 Indian team. They will play Australia Under-19 in a multi-format home series in September and October.
In three 50-over games in Puducherry on September 21, 23, and 26, India U19 will play Australia U19. Two four-day games in Chennai starting on September 30 and October 7 will follow.
The captain of the 50-over team will be Mohamed Amaan of Uttar Pradesh, while Soham Patwardhan of Madhya Pradesh will take charge of the team during the four-day contests.
As a member of the Mysuru Warriors team, Dravid recently took part in his first senior men’s T20 competition, the Maharaja T20 Trophy in Karnataka. Despite not being asked to bowl at his medium pace, Dravid amassed 82 runs at a strike rate of 114 while batting in the middle order over the course of seven innings. On Saturday, Mysuru Warriors and Hubli Tigers will play in the tournament semifinal.
