All eyes are now on the mega auction since every team has kept the players they believe would be essential to their success in the forthcoming season of the lucrative league. The IPL auction is expected to take place in Riyadh from November 24 to 25, according to reports.

Jos Buttler, Aiden Markram, Glenn Maxwell, Faf Du Plessis, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and many other top players were permitted to bid by their respective teams when the retention lists of all ten teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) season next year were finally revealed last week.

Although the teams invested a total of Rs 558.5 crore, they kept 46 players. 36 Indian players are among the 46 players who have been retained by all franchises. Ten of these players are Indian stars without caps. There will be three excellent Indian captaincy possibilities for teams searching for a new captain after the release of IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals (DC), and KL Rahul from Lucknow Super Giants.

Interestingly, this time around, no England players were kept by teams. Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, Phil Salt, and Will Jacks were among the many high-profile players that were let go. Due to international obligations, these players missed a portion of their season, and Harry Brook withdrew for personal reasons. For personal reasons, England batsman Jason Roy withdrew from the IPL before the current season. With multiple teams relying on their foreign players, these changes occasionally harmed the team balance.

The Indian core, which includes captain Hardik Pandya, former captain Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, 360-degree hitter Suryakumar Yadav, and youthful left-hander Tilak Varma, was trusted by the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI).

Given his youth and franchise experience, it was anticipated that young Ishan Kishan would be able to hold onto his spot, but things didn’t work out the way many had anticipated. MI is able to keep a strong Indian contingent thanks to this retention policy, which also gives them Rs 45 crore to strengthen their team in the auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), on the other hand, has chosen to be more picky and has only kept three players. Along with Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal, Virat Kohli receives the highest retention price of Rs 21 crore. With Rs 83 crore, RCB has the second-largest purse as a result of this strategy.

Many were taken aback when the Punjab Kings decided not to keep any capped players. Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh, their two retentions, show a move in favour of developing fresh potential. The biggest purse, at Rs 110.5 crore, is still there.

The Rajasthan Royals are still looking for an extra opener, but they have essentially settled on their batting order. bringing the smallest amount of money—Rs 41 crore—to the auction.

Following his retention as an uncapped player by the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni is once again expected to play in the 2019 IPL season. In order to preserve the harmony that has propelled their previous achievements, CSK’s approach is probably going to concentrate on combining experienced players with up-and-coming talent. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana are among the players they have kept on board in addition to Dhoni.
