A total of 1,574 players to go under hammer in mega auction at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

1,165 Indian players and 409 foreign players will be among the 1,574 players up for grabs in the upcoming IPL 2025 super auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday and Monday. A spot in the world’s top T20 league is up for grabs.

There are 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations on the complete list of registered players. 48 capped Indian players, 272 capped international players, 152 uncapped Indian players with IPL season experience, 3 uncapped international players with IPL season experience, 965 uncapped Indian players, and 104 uncapped international players are specifically included in the breakdown.

Australia had the most registrations (76), followed by South Africa (91), and England (52), out of the 409 foreign players. Other noteworthy nations are the USA (10 players), Afghanistan and Sri Lanka (29 apiece), the West Indies (33), and New Zealand (39). Additionally registered are players from Bangladesh (13), Ireland (9), Canada (4), the Netherlands (12), Zimbabwe (8), Scotland (2), the United Arab Emirates (1), and Italy (1).

There will be 204 spots available at the IPL 2025 player auction, with each of the 10 IPL teams permitted to field a squad of no more than 25 players. As teams assemble their lineups for the upcoming three years, the competition is expected to be fierce.

Prior to the massive auction, the corresponding franchise released 574 players in total.

366 Indians and 208 foreign players, including three from partner countries, make up the 574 players. There will be 12 uncapped foreign players and 318 Indian uncapped players up for sale. Seventy of the 204 available slots are set aside for players from other countries.

With 81 participants choosing this bracket, the highest reserve price is INR 2 crore. Players with a base price of INR 30 lakh, or 320, make up the largest segment.

Of the 12 marquee players, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul are among the more notable names. Before the retention deadline, each of these three captains was let go by their respective teams. The top players, who include five international stars and seven Indian players, are split into two sets for the first time since 2018.

KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are in the second set, while Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Arshdeep Singh are in the first. Mitchell Starc, Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, and Kagiso Rabada are the top players from abroad.

During the auction, a number of teams will use Right-to-Match (RTM) cards. Due to their retention of six players apiece, which is the maximum permitted, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will not have any RTM cards. Delhi Capitals (DC) have two RTMs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) three, and Punjab Kings (PBKS) four. Each of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has a single RTM.

By matching the highest bid, RTM cards allow teams to repurchase players who have been released. The team holding the RTM card can then match the highest bid to secure the player, and the team with the highest bid can raise their offer again.

The IPL 2025 Mega Auction promises to deliver high-stakes action, with marquee players and strategic manoeuvres set to enthral cricket fans.
