The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that pacer Aamir Jamal has been excluded from the Pakistan Test team ahead of the series against Bangladesh due to fitness concerns.
Aamir has been told to improve his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. He was previously selected in the team, pending to receiving clearance for play.
Aamir had a back injury during this year’s county cricket match, from which he is currently healing. At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh and its hosts, Pakistan, will play their maiden Test match on August 21.
Aamir was left out of the team that travelled to the West Indies and the United States of America for the June T20 World Cup.
He joined the county team Warwickshire after being rejected, but due to fitness concerns, he was only able to play for the squad three times.
This news comes a day after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, scheduled for August 30, has been moved from Karachi to Rawalpindi. The reason for this move was the heavy construction equipment being used, as well as the need to follow strict redevelopment timelines for the National Bank Stadium, which is being prepared for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 next year. The Pakistan Cricket Board made this decision after consulting with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Thanks to this move, supporters and viewers of cricket may watch both Test matches live, providing a sneak peek at an exciting and demanding international season for Pakistani cricket. The national team will play at least 17 ODIs, 14 T20Is, and nine Tests overall during this time.
