BCCI to decide Bumrah’s availability for Champions Trophy on February 11

ESPNcricinfo reports that on Tuesday, February 11, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make a decision regarding the availability of star India bowler Jasprit Bumrah for the forthcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

According to the report, Bumrah recently had his back scanned at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The selectors will meet with the medical staff of BCCI.

When the speedster went for scans during the final innings of the Perth Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia in Sydney earlier in January, he did not bowl a ball and was told by the Australian medics not to play the rest of the Sydney Test.

In accordance with the medical experts’ recommendations, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) determined that the Indian captain should take a minimum of five weeks off (the Sydney Test concluded on January 5) before undergoing another scan.

With 86 wickets in 21 games at an average of 13.76, four four-wicket hauls, five five-wicket hauls, and best figures of 6/45, Jasprit Bumrah was the top wicket-taker in international cricket last season.

With 71 wickets in 13 games at an average of 14.92, five five-wicket hauls, and best figures of 6/45, the Indian pace spearhead had one of the best calendar years as a bowler, especially in Tests. He also had outstanding stints both at home and abroad.

Bumrah’s health will be vital for the Men in Blue in the ICC event, as the Champions Trophy 2025 draws near.

There will be 15 matches in the eight-team competition, which will take place in Dubai and Pakistan. Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates will host the ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9. India will play its matches in Dubai using a hybrid format.

On February 23, India and Pakistan, two bitter rivals, will play the most important match of the ICC competition. On February 20, India will launch their campaign against Bangladesh. On March 2, India will play their final league game against New Zealand.
