In the third Twenty20 International match, Team India defeated Sri Lanka in the super over to win the T20 International series 3-0.
Upon receiving the match brief, Sri Lanka chose to bowl first after winning the toss. The blue team scored 137 runs while losing nine wickets when batting first. Of which, Washington Sundar scored 25 runs, Riyan Parag scored 26, and Shubman Gill scored 39. Maheesh Theekshana took three wickets for SL, Wanindu Hasaranga took two, and Asitha Fernando took one.
While chasing the objective, Sri Lanka lost seven wickets but still managed to equal India’s total of runs. Of those, 26 were scored by Pathum Nissanka, 43 by Kusal Mendis, and 46 by Kusal Perera. Washington Sundar, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rinku Singh all took two wickets apiece for the Indian team.
First to bat in the super over was Sri Lanka. Despite losing two wickets, the squad managed to score two runs, with Kusal Mendis scoring one run (not out). Washington Sundar, meanwhile, claimed two wickets in three deliveries. Subsequently, in the super over, Suryakumar Yadav smashed one four to send the match to India.
India swept the series to victory. In the second Twenty20 International match, the squad defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets, while in the first, they won by 43 runs. Suryakumar Yadav took home the Player of the Series trophy, while Washington Sundar was named the Player of the Match.
