For the first time in twelve years, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in yesterday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) game at Wankhede Stadium.
In the match briefing, Mumbai Indians chose to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders after winning the toss. First-inning batsmen KKR made 169 runs while losing every wicket. of which Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 13, Manish Pandey scored 42, and Venkatesh Iyer scored 70. Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara each claimed three wickets for MI, while Hardik Pandya claimed two.
Mumbai Indians lost all of their wickets at 145 runs while attempting to chase the 170 run victory mark, allowing KKR to win the game by 24 runs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 56 runs, Tim David scored 24, and Ishan Kisan scored 13 of MI’s total. Mitchell Starc claimed four wickets while fielding, while Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine each claimed two wickets.
In terms of the points standings, Mumbai Indians are currently ranked ninth with three wins and eight losses, while Kolkata Knight Riders are currently ranked second with seven wins and three losses.
At M. Chinnaswammy Stadium in Karnataka, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans are scheduled to square off at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
