IPL 2024 match between RCB and SRH: On Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in this city, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of 35 runs, thanks in large part to a masterful bowling display by Karn Sharma, Cameron Green, and Swapnil Singh. This was the team’s first victory in six previous matches against the Sunrisers.
While SRH chased a challenging target of 207, Cameron Green produced an outstanding all-around performance, hitting a 20-ball 37 and making a wonderful catch. SRH were limited to 171/8 in 20 overs.
It was a goal worth chasing for SRH, who have amassed two of the highest totals this season, but they were unable to build any momentum and lost badly, suffering their third IPL loss and staying in third place. Despite winning their second game, RCB is still at the bottom.
Four setbacks cost Sunrisers Hyderabad the match in the Power-play, none more crippling than losing starter Travis Head for one run in the opening over.
Similar to his opening partner Head, fellow opener Abhishek Sharma has a strike rate of 200+. Before falling to Yash Dayal, he hammered a 13-ball 31, replete with three boundaries and two sixes. He attempted a pull but mishit it, slicing in the air for keeper Dinesh Karthik to pouch a skier.
When Aiden Markram attempted to hit Swapnil Singh in the fifth over, he missed the delivery entirely and was trapped LBW for seven runs, with the score 41/3. After Heinrich Klassen struck Swapnil for a six a few deliveries later, SRH collapsed to 56/4 in the fifth over and their pursuit of 207 was in chaos as they ended the Power-play at 62/4. Klassen was out for seven off three balls. As an effect Player, Swapnil made a significant effect by taking wickets of little players Aiden Markram and Klassen.
In the 11th over, Pat Cummins gave SRH hope by hitting back-to-back sixes off of Swapnil Singh. In the following over, he hit Karn Sharma for a four and a six off consecutive deliveries. However, he was defeated by fellow Australian Cameron Green when he attempted to hit a short, wide delivery to Mohd Siraj at short third man, as the delivery lacked pace. He blasted three sixes and one four on his way to a scorching 31 off 15 balls. The writing was clearly on the wall, as SRH stood at 124/7. While the run rate continued to rise and SRH continued to lose wickets, Green claimed one more wicket, sending back Bhuvneshwar Singh (13).
