Mushfiqur, Mominul to play for Bangladesh A in Pakistan

Next month, in Pakistan, Bangladesh A will play its maiden four-day match, with Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim representing the team. The secondary team will participate in two four-day games overall, in addition to three one-day games versus Pakistan A. The senior men’s Test tour of Bangladesh against Pakistan, which starts on August 21, will take place concurrently with the games.

The opening four-day match of the series will take place in Islamabad starting on August 10. For the opening game, the selectors have chosen Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Zakir Hasan, Nayeem Hasan, and Hasan Mahmud in addition to Mushfiqur and Mominul. Due to a fractured thumb, Mushfiqur was unable to play in Bangladesh’s previous Test series against Sri Lanka; Mominul, Joy, Zakir, and Mahmud were present. Nayeem is an expert in tests as well.

Starting on August 17, these six players will be substituted for the second game. They are replaced by Mohammad Naim, Saif Hassan, Soumya Sarkar, Jaker Ali, Towhid Hridoy, and Mohammad Saifuddin.

Other batters who have been selected for the two four-day matches are Mosaddek Hossain, Mahidul Islam, and Shahadat Hossain; hence, it is unlikely that they would be included in the Test team against Pakistan. The bowlers who will participate in both games are Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Ruyel Miah, and left-arm spinners Hasan Murad and Tanvir Islam.

Bangladesh A will not have played in a first-class match since the 2003–04 season, when they took part in the PCB Patron’s Trophy. On August 6, Bangladesh A will leave for Islamabad.
