Rohit Sharma playfully punches Sarfaraz Khan for dropped catch

On day two of a two-day practice match against the Prime Minister’s XI at Canberra’s Manuka Oval, India skipper Rohit Sharma shared a humorous encounter with teammate Sarfaraz Khan.

Sarfaraz, who replaced the injured Rishabh Pant as a backup wicketkeeper, made a straightforward stumping behind the wicket. For this, Rohit gave him a gentle back rub. Harshit Rana bowled a short-pitched ball to Oliver Davies, who had just entered the game following Jack Clayton’s dismissal, in the twenty-third over of the match.

Additionally, he saw the ball slip past Clayton, causing wicketkeeper Sarfaraz to lose his hold on it. Sarfaraz was about to pick it up from the ground when Rohit gave him a friendly back punch, although both Rohit and the player later grinned at one another.

After heavy rain on Day 1 prevented play, the two-day practice match was shortened to 50 overs each side. Then Rana clean-bowled Davies with a ripper on the very next ball, dismissing him for a duck.

Despite being bowled out for just 150 runs in their opening innings, India pulled off a stunning turnaround from a series thumping at home against New Zealand to upset Australia by 295 runs in Perth in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Josh Hazlewood, a bowler for the Australians, will miss the Adelaide Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to a side strain. Brendan Doggett and Sean Abbott, who have yet to make their Test debuts for Australia, were part of the Australian team’s second Test.

Scott Boland is expected to take Hazlewood’s spot in the starting XI for the day-night Test, according to reports. Hazlewood will remain with the team in Adelaide to recuperate from his “low-grade left side injury,” according to Cricket Australia. On December 6, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s day-night Adelaide Test will begin.

In addition, Rohit just welcomed a baby boy into his family, which made the Indian captain quite happy.
