Coach Jason Gillespie has stated that Shaheen Afridi has been left out of Pakistan’s starting eleven for the second Test against Bangladesh. Ahead of the second Test match against Bangladesh, the Pakistan cricket team has left-arm fast-bowling standout Shaheen Shah out of their 12-man probable squad.
On Friday, the test is expected to begin at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. If Pakistan fails to win the second Test, they will lose the series against Bangladesh. Pakistan has to win the second Test to draw the series.
Pakistan has included leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed and left-arm fast bowler Mir Hamza in their 12-man team, with Shaheen out. During the pre-match news conference, Pakistan’s red-ball coach Jason Gillespie said that Shaheen has received some input on his bowling and that he has been allowed leave to spend time with his family.
Shaheen took two wickets in the first innings of the first Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Rawalpindi, but he did not take any wickets in the second innings as the visitors defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets.
On the fourth day of the match, Shaheen became father to a baby boy named Aliyaar. “Shaheen’s missed out this game. We’ve had a good conversation with him, and he fully understands and appreciates the thinking behind it. Shaheen’s been given some feedback. He’s working on some things with his bowling to be as effective as he possibly can be.”
“Shaheen’s had an interesting last couple of weeks. He’s a new father. We’re seeing an opportunity where we’re able to allow him to go and spend some time with his family as well.” “He’s working really well with Azhar Mahmood (assistant coach). We want to see Shaheen at his best because we’ve got a lot of cricket in all formats and Shaheen’s going to play a really big role in that.”
Pakistan selected four fast bowlers who failed to make an impact as a unit before deciding to introduce Abrar. Paradoxically, Bangladesh fielded spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who in the second innings bowled Pakistan out for 146 and secured a historic victory by 10 wickets. The 12-man Pakistani team is composed of the following players: Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Naseem Shah, Babar Azam, Mir Hamza, Abdullah Shafique, Naseem Shah, Khurram Shehzad, and Shan Masood (c), Saud Shakeel (vc), and Mohammad Rizwan (wk).
