Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament

Deepak Patil, the deputy secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association, confirmed Iyer’s availability for the match against Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, following Suryakumar’s confirmation of his participation last week.

“Shreyas Iyer will compete for the Mumbai team in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s Buchi Babu Invitational. He will participate in the Mumbai vs. Jammu & Kashmir match, which kicks off in Coimbatore on August 27, according to Patil.

Both Iyer and Suryakumar will use the Buchi Babu Tournament, a legendary event in Indian domestic cricket, as a vital platform to hone their skills. Prior to the forthcoming international season, the BCCI had already urged Indian internationals to take part in domestic competitions, understanding the need of match practise in preserving peak performance.

Iyer sees the Buchi Babu Tournament as a chance to make a statement about his intentions to be included in the Indian Test team before the series against Bangladesh. Iyer, who has demonstrated reliability in limited-overs cricket, is eager to establish himself in the Test team, and he may be included if he does well in the Buchi Babu Tournament.

However, India’s T20I skipper, Suryakumar, is still keen to make a name for himself in Test cricket. The stylish hitter has not given up on his goals of competing in the game’s longest format, even in the face of success in the lesser versions.

Sarfaraz Khan, who has been a prominent performer in domestic cricket over the past several seasons, will be the squad captain for Mumbai. Mumbai could have a great batting lineup now that Iyer and Suryakumar are on board, offering them a great chance to go far in the competition.
