Sri Lanka decided to bowl against India.
In the third and final Twenty20 International match between Sri Lanka and India in Pallekele, skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss and chose to bowl. Sri Lanka will try to prevent a rout after already losing the series.
Both teams desired to bowl first due to the current weather, which caused the toss to be postponed by 70 minutes and the match to start an hour later than planned due to rain and a soggy outfield. The new pitch used for the contest should be advantageous to the spinners.
Dasun Shanaka was replaced by Chamindu Wickramasinghe, who made his debut for Sri Lanka.
To ensure that every member of the squad played in at least one game, India made four changes. Shubman Gill, who suffered from neck spasms and missed the second Twenty20 International, made a comeback, and Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, and Khaleel Ahmed won their first match of the series. They were moved aside by Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant.
