T20 World Cup: Monank Patel Out With Injury As Unchanged India Elect To Bowl Against USA

In a Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, India defeated the USA after winning the toss and choosing to bowl first at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday. Due to a left shoulder injury, USA captain Monank Patel is not available. Aaron Jones will take the lead as the host.

India stays the same, with Shadley van Schalkwyk replacing Noshtush Kenjige and Shayan Jahangir replacing Patel.

Both teams are looking for victory, and the winner of Wednesday’s match will advance from Group A to the Super Eight stage.

Our team, led by skipper Rohit Sharma of India, will bowl first. The last two games have seen it perform better, but you still need to swiftly assess the situation before letting the game take control. It all comes down to maintaining the momentum and continuously improving. It is imperative to take the proper actions. We didn’t have enough runs on the board, but the bowlers showed up and won the game for us. It was a terrific game to play. We have the same team in our match.

“We would have bowled first as well; there’s some help for the bowlers early,” said USA captain Aaron Jones. Monank Patel is experiencing some discomfort and will return soon. We intend to play well, and the game should be enjoyable. The goal of the camp is to simply play good cricket and is really upbeat. Monank is replaced by Shayan Jahangir, and Nosthush is replaced by Shadley.
