In Sunday’s two-day warm-up match at Canberra’s Manuka Oval, Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, won the toss and chose to bowl against Jack Edwards’ Prime Minister’s XI.
The Prime Minister’s XI and India will play a 50-over contest on the second day of their two-day warm-up match on Sunday after rain spoilt the first day.
The practice game in Canberra was called off earlier on Saturday because of the continuous rain.
The two sides would have been better prepared for the forthcoming games of the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy if they had played a two-day, day-night warm-up.
Despite being bowled out for just 150 runs in their opening innings, India pulled off a spectacular recovery from a series thumping at home against New Zealand to upset Australia by 295 runs in Perth in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Rohit, the captain, returned to Test cricket and will captain the team in the Canberra practice match. His comeback will undoubtedly give Team India more confidence going into the upcoming BGT 2024–2025 matches.
There won’t be any limitations on the number of overs a bowler may bowl during the match, according to ESPNcricinfo. Additionally, there are no field constraints. Instead of splitting the day into three sessions, there will be a 30-minute break planned between the two sets of 50 overs.
The Prime Minister’s XI includes Aidan O’Connor, Hanno Jacobs, Mahli Beardman, Charlie Anderson, Scott Boland, Lloyd Pope, Jack Nisbet, Jack Edwards (C), Sam Harper (WK), Matt Renshaw, Jayden Goodwin, Jack Clayton, Oliver Davies, and Sam Konstas.
India: Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Devdutt Padikkal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, R Ashwin, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), and Dhruv Rahul.
