Sameer Rizvi, a player with the Chennai Super Kings, has gained attention for a contentious comment he made in a recent interview. The athlete disclosed that reading the Qur’an brings him greater inner serenity than hitting a century.
During the interview, Rizvi revealed that he is an ardent follower of Islam and that he does the Namaz on a daily basis. He went on to say that the inner serenity he receives from prayer is greater than even the joy of hitting a century.
He expressed his gratitude to MS Dhoni for teaching him the value of remaining composed under pressure. During the conversation, he also highlighted other well-known cricket players and professed his appreciation for them. He said he liked Virat’s continued approachability and humility in spite of his legendary position in the cricket world.
In addition, Rizvi expressed his desire to play for the Chennai Super Kings in the future and complimented the team’s friendly environment.
He mentioned during his career talk that he hasn’t talked to anyone about staying with the Chennai Super Kings franchise just yet. And he made it clear that, regardless of the side he plays for, all he wants is plenty of opportunity to show off his abilities. He added that his main worry is not the value a team places on him. His primary goal is to display his abilities.
In the Indian Premier League 2024, Chennai Super Kings purchased Sameer Rizvi for Rs 8.4 crores. Within eight matches in the IPL 2024, he managed just 51 runs. Even with this subpar performance, Rizvi is still upbeat about his chances going forward.
In the UP T20 League, he is now captain of the Kanpur Superstars. In just three games, Rizvi has amassed 137 runs at a remarkable average of more than 45.
