In their debut match of the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup 2024, Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India by 43 runs on Saturday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium thanks to Shahzaib Khan’s outstanding knock and the bowlers’ combined effort.
Indian openers Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi came out to start the innings, chasing a target of 282 runs.
In the fourth and fifth overs, India lost two fast wickets with a score of 28. After scoring 20, Mhatre was removed, and Suryavanshi came in second with just one run.
Andre Siddarth and Mohamed Amaan added a 23-run partnership in an effort to settle the innings following the early setbacks. But with the team score at 51, Siddarth was out for 15 in the 12th over.
Then, with the team total at 81, Amaan was removed by Usman Khan in the 21st over after scoring 16 runs.
India was at 134 after Kiran Chormale joined Nikhil Kumar at the crease but was removed after only 20 runs.
Nikhil Kumar was dismissed with the score at 174 after a spectacular 67 runs off 77 balls, which included three sixes and six boundaries.
After losing Harvansh Singh and Samarth Nagaraj off successive deliveries at 182, India’s innings swiftly collapsed. India lost the match by 43 runs after being bowled out for 238 in 47.1 overs after the ninth wicket fell at 190.
Saad Baig, the captain of Pakistan, had previously won the toss and chosen to bat first. Shahzaib Khan’s outstanding 159 off 147 balls, which featured 10 sixes and five fours, helped the side reach a respectable total of 281/7 in the 50 overs they were given. Mohammad Riazullah added 27 runs from 33 deliveries, and Usman Khan provided 60 runs from 94 balls.
Yudhajit Guha and Kiran Chormale each took one wicket, Ayush Mhatre took two, and Samarth Nagaraj took three for India.
