England bowling and tossing are won by the West Indies.
In the second Test at Trent Bridge, the West Indies had won the toss and elected to put England in to bat.
There has only been one change made by each party. Kevin Sinclair of the West Indies has taken the position of Gudakesh Motie, who passed away from the illness shortly after being selected for the team on Wednesday. James Anderson’s retirement, which will be filled by Mark Wood, is the only alteration made by England.
The captain of England, Ben Stokes, expressed his excitement at seeing Woody back in the whites.
“It was a tough one if we were to win the toss, a little bit undecided but I’ll keep it to myself what I would have done,” Stokes said. “Really excited now for more responsibility being passed to our bowlers that are coming through.”
After losing the first Test at Lord’s by an innings and 114 runs, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite stated he wanted to see more from his bowlers and batsmen.
“With the ball we could be a lot more disciplined,” he said. “Batting-wise we need to build partnerships, we’ve got to score at least 300 in the first inngings.”
